Camping in Arizona offers breathtaking beauty to fill your senses and soul. Arizona was the 48th and last of the contiguous states, admitted to the Union on February 14, 1912, the 50th anniversary of Arizona's recognition as a territory of the United States. Arizona is noted for its desert climate, exceptionally hot summers, and mild winters, but the high country in the north features pine forests and mountain ranges with cooler weather than the lower deserts. Population figures for the year ending July 1, 2006, indicate that Arizona was at that time the fastest growing state in the United States, exceeding the growth of the previous leader, Nevada, and is currently the second. Arizona has had more female governors than any other U.S. state. Arizona Camping is famous for its landscapes, from the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell to tall mountain ranges, rivers, sand dunes and cactus. But Arizona is not just a beautiful destination, it is full of history. |

Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona’s most distinguishable landmark – and a natural wonder that you simply have to see to believe. Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep, rocky walls descend more than a mile to the canyon’s floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest. Camping on Arizona public lands away from developed recreation facilities is referred to as "dispersed camping." Most of the remainder of public lands in Arizona are open to dispersed camping, as long as such use does not conflict with other authorized uses or occurs in areas posted "closed to camping," or in some way adversely affects wildlife species or natural resources. If you are dreaming of taking deep breaths of fresh air, toasting marshmallows over a crackling fire, and staring up at a sky full of stars, then you are ready for a camping vacation. Get out your bug spray and camping equipment, because, whether sleeping in a tent, a yurt, or a deluxe RV is more your style, RU Camping can help you find the perfect Arizona campground. Arizona has many amazing national and state parks. Besides the famous and very tourist-oriented Grand Canyon National Park, places like Petrified Forest National Park and Lake Havasu State Park each have their own unique sights and special attractions. Situated on the border of Nevada and Arizona, Lake Mead is a favorite camping and fishing destination, open year round to take advantage of the consistently warm desert climate. |
